Caitlin Clark’s Achievements: Caitlin Clark was recently named the WNBA Rookie of the Year for 2024. She received this honor after a record-breaking season and was recognized unanimously by voters. Prior to the NBA, Clark established numerous records in NCAA and Big Ten history, becoming the all-time leading scorer with 3,951 points, surpassing both male and female players. She is the first collegiate athlete to achieve at least 3,800 points, 1,000 assists, and 950 rebounds, finishing her career with 1,144 assists and 990 rebounds.

Early Life and Recognition: Clark was born and raised in West Des Moines, Iowa. She was a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year, named Iowa Miss Basketball, and participated in the McDonald’s All-American and Jordan Brand Classic games. Clark hails from a family of athletes, with her father Brent having played basketball and baseball at Simpson College, and her grandfather Bob Nizzi serving as a football coach at Dowling Catholic High School.

Multi-Sport Background: Although she initially played multiple sports, including softball, volleyball, tennis, and soccer—where she was recognized as a Class 3A All-Iowa team member—Clark has since dedicated herself primarily to basketball. Three-Point Shooting Record: Clark has redefined 3-point shooting in women’s college basketball, setting a new record in her senior season with 201 three-pointers, outpacing the previous record by 54. She concluded her career with a total of 548 three-pointers, 11 more than the second-place holder, and averaged an impressive 5.15 made three-pointers per game. Additionally, she holds the record for the most three-pointers made in women’s Division I tournament play, with a total of 78.

Playmaking Skills: In addition to her exceptional scoring abilities, Clark has established herself as a top playmaker in women’s college basketball. She led the NCAA in assists during her final three seasons and is among only six players to surpass 1,000 career assists, finishing with a total of 1,144, which ranks third all-time.

Big Ten Dominance: Clark’s graduation from the Iowa Hawkeyes will be a relief for teams outside the Big Ten, as she dominated the conference throughout her college career.
